The "Literary Park" Elsa Morante

In 1957, Elsa Morante won the "Premio Strega" (an important italian prize) thanks to her novel entitled "L'isola di Arturo" set in Procida in the years immediately preceding the second world war. In this book, she describes the sunny and quiet landscapes of Procida where real and imaginary animals live, the seashore and its narrow streets, the colourful houses, the dry boats and the Castle dominating the island. She is also enchanted by the customs of this land holding thousands of traditions.

What charmed the Italian writer still lies on the island - some unchanged places, its customs that are still strongly rooted in the soul of its inhabitants, and the surprisingly beautiful nature of the place. These elements in particular, represent the strong point of "L'isola di Arturo" Literary Park which aims to discover and enhance the island and its traditions, giving its guests a virtual jump back into the past.
